Lindsay Weidmann

Lindsay Weidmann, a very good singer whom we heard performing at the Boulder Farmers Market recently, has a little fantasy going on about her quest to have lunch with comedian Steve Martin. You can see it for yourself, as she sing and tells her story. It all started when she was 12 — a crazy dream, she knows, yet it lives on. She’ll tell you all about it in a video on her website.

Council election draws nigh. By-mail ballots are flying in, and the counting has begun. Results are made known at 8:30 election night, Tuesday, Nov. 3. Denver online publication dies. This is a slightly delayed death notice. The Rocky Mountain Independent, an attempt at an online publication by former Rocky Mountain News journalists, quietly ceased updating its pages Oct. 2. The goodbye note they posted on that day was shy on reportage of the reasons for their demise, stating only that “we can no longer afford to produce enough content to justify the membership.” There was a lot of content in the RMI, but it’s not clear what they were thinking in going head-to-head in general news with the still-scrappy Denver Post, the news websites of three major TV stations, and other free content.

Yep, Boulder home prices fall too. Want to see visual evidence that Boulder’s not immune to the nation’s home price decline, also that the County, at least, is having its share of foreclosures. It’s in this graphic from The Community Foundation’s newly published Trends report. Note, in the small print, that the foreclosures for 2009 are only through Aug. 31. (See also this article on some other Trends report findings.)
