How to avoid giving boring ties this Christmas

Judge Long sports a glass bowtie

There are hand-made glass tree ornaments and there are hand-made glass works of art, but consider the latest in gift giving: the glass bowtie.

Boulder’s Judge William Long, who presides over court in Lyons, plans to wear his new glass wear attire to court for the holidays. Commissioned by emergency-room doctor Dee Crouch and designed by Anne McCaffrey at the Ambrosia Glass Art studio in Longmont, the yellow and orange bowtie should add a lighter touch to the solemn tone of the courtroom.

“If it shatters and slits my throat, I’ll have my estate sue you!” warned Long to the gift giver, as he stopped to pose for this picture.
