Named in the complaint were Eric Budd, Katie Farnan, Ryan Welsh, Mark Van Akkeren, Claudia Hanson Thiem, SarahDawn Haynes, and the Boulder Progressives Organization.

The Complaint alleges that the named Defendants “orchestrated [a] smear campaign…to destroy a Boulder City Council campaign and the candidate’s personal reputation” by misappropriating Rosenblum’s identity and defaming him, including a blog that detailed several disgusting, horrible, violent, and intolerant posts that were falsely attributed to Rosenblum.

According to Rosenblum, who has never filed a lawsuit before, he asked his lawyers to finalize and file the most focused complaint possible that establishes what happened, but will consider adding additional defendants as the case proceeds over the next months. “I just felt I had no choice. The named defendants were given an opportunity to retract what they had done, but when they did not, I asked my attorneys to move forward with the complaint, in order to recover and further protect my personal reputation.”
