“The Homeless Among Us: Living and Working In Downtown Boulder,”
described as “A Community Conversation About Sharing Downtown with Boulder’s Homeless Population” will be held May 4 in Boulder.

Its intent is to:

• Understand the multiple perspectives of those who share downtown
• Consider how to interact both humanely and realistically with Boulder’s homeless men and women
• Participate in a discussion on how everyone can better live, work, and play in the downtown area

What do you do when you see a homeless person? What do you say when you are approached for a handout? Who are these folks and why are they on the streets?
Our homeless neighbors are a downtown reality. If you live, work, shop, or hang out in downtown Boulder, we invite you to join us in learning more about the street people and how we can all realistically share the downtown area.

The seminar will feature a diverse panel of representatives from the downtown community:

• The Boulder Police Force
• The Carriage House Community Table, a day shelter and resourcecenter for the homeless and poor
• The Downtown Boulder Business Improvement District
• Lamb’s Ministry, a several-church outreach to homeless people
• A downtown condo resident
• Two once-homeless, now employed and housed folks

Panelists will provide facts and share experiences about working with or being in contact with the homeless. They will also make practical suggestions for daily interactions with street people.

A time for discussion will follow the panelists’ presentations, and participants are invited to join in re- freshments and conversation to conclude the evening.
