STDs rising among Colorado’s young

Denver public health official interviewed during STD Awareness Month

April is Sexually Transmitted Awareness Month. Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains is partnering with a coalition of other groups to for a national campaign, GYT, or Get Yourself Tested, to raise awareness about the increasing rates of STD infections among young people.

Public health officials around the country and right here in Colorado say they are very concerned about the rise in the levels of STDs among young people under 25 years of age. Dr. Mark Thurn is the director of the HIV Prevention and STD Control Program at Denver Public Health. He spoke to KGNU’s Maeve Conran on April 15, 2010
