Is the tree-thinning orgy winding down yet?

Maybe you can spare at least this spot on Flagstaff for me

| May 16, 2011

MAYBE THIS ONCE? Here’s hoping this one can be saved from “thinning.” (Source: OSMP map)

Open letter, sent by me to Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks people today.

I have been watching various very aggressive thinning project going on: Enchanted Mesa (City), Bald Mountain (County), Saran St. Vrain above Jamestown (Forest Service), etc. I know that you have your reasons. But I am writing to ask that you spare the Rangeview Trail at Flagstaff (see attached graphic). It is such a beautiful stand of trees near where Rangeview meets up with Ute trail near the top — I value it so. I am hoping you folks will leave it just as it is. Thank you.
